Some Accountants Deserve What They Get

I asked a small business owner today about his experience with his Accountant.  He responded describing a situation I hear way too much.

He described his accountant as one that has reversed the roles as though the accountant is the client, and the business owner is the service.  Specifically, the business owner waits days for a response to his phone calls, receives financial statements with no explanation, and is convinced that the accountant has little interest in the success of his business.

In the past, the business owner was paying $1,000 per month for the accounting services, but when business became tight, the business owner reduced the service to quarterly financials, and an hourly billing.

Frankly I can’t blame him.  He asked me what to do I suggested he find a new accountant.
